Experienced editor and proofreader

$25/hr Starting at $150

My goal is to create expertly edited books/documents/articles for my clients. I am an experienced, well-qualified editor with a B.A. in Journalism (University of Georgia, USA). I have edited numerous books since beginning my freelance work in 2010. (Please see examples of my work and feedback from previous clients following.) EDITING: First, I do a careful and intensive reading of the manuscript to find and correct any remaining errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar or faulty sentence structure. During this reading, I will rephrase/add content, AS/IF NEEDED, to make the manuscript flow smoothly, while keeping the writer's "voice." I am also concentrating on improving clarity and accuracy to make the style of the manuscript clean and consistent and provide the reader with an easy-to-read, informative and entertaining book. You will be provided a RED-LINE copy of the manuscript showing the changes and suggestions I have made on the "track changes in red" version of MS Word. You will also be provided with the CLEAN, EDITED copy so you can see the manuscript after the editing has been applied. I suggest to my clients to have both the red-line version and the clean, edited version up on their computer screen at the same time so they can see the "before" and "after" results. I then do a second reading to assure that the manuscript is the very best it can be and is now ready to be formatted and designed for publishing. MY PLEDGE TO CLIENTS: I enjoy the process of assisting the author in the creation of a book or other writing projects. Realizing that the author has put much thought into the manuscript and more than likely has spent numerous hours in perfecting it, I am on board as his/her partner in seeing the project to a successful ending. I take pride in the work that I do for my clients. Following is feedback from a few clients that I have worked with. FEEDBACK FROM A FEW OF MY CLIENTS: -Edit non-fiction manuscript and prepare for publishing -Non-fiction Business / Self-help book developmental editor "Excellent development and copy editor! Very good at communication, meeting deadlines, and superb quality of work. Will certainly hire her for any other (non-fiction) book editing work we need. - SDR
