Myself Gunjan Soni, Post graduate MFA(Portraiture) from Sir J. J. school of Art, Mumbai in portraiture has been struggling to get a foothold in the field of realistic painting. Having come to know about this fascinating field quite late in my student career, I have developed a liking for this since it involves working with people and subjects which are real.It gives me immense pleasure to pick my subject from everyday surrounding and give them some form and color in my painting. I like to develop an intimate relation with my model by observing them closely and try to add some subtle nuances in the form and color. The physical process of applying paint itself creates a unique dynamic energy which has no parallel. I believe my painting comes alive through the depiction of color and light on the canvas. By choosing to work through mediums Acrylic, Water color and prominently on oil, I want to continuously improve my art and create exemplary work of realism in the chosen field of Portraiture.
