Princess Diana's brother Charles Spencerhas delighted royal fans after sharing a newspaper clipping showing a 'precious snapshot of family life in 1966'.

Earl Spencer, 57, who lives at his family seat, Althorp House, in the Northamptonshire countryside, took to Instagram yesterday to offer his over 66,000 followers a glimpse of his and the Princess of Wales' childhood together.

He posted a newspaper clipping from 1966, showing Diana, who was then aged five, playing in a toy car while her younger brother Charles, then aged two, poured sand all over it.

The scene was observed by their parents, Viscount and Viscountess Althorp, as well as their two other children, Sarah, then 11, and Jane, aged nine.

His followers were thrilled with the photo, with many excited to see the image of a young Princess Diana.

One person wrote: 'The look on Diana's face is priceless. Sweet and indulgent but also "Oh Charles..."'

Another said: 'Awww it's such a great picture... Simpler times,' while one person wrote: 'So happy to see this photo. All look beautiful. And you’re the cutest.'

Charles has been custodian of the Althorp estate since the death of his father, John Spencer, in 1992, and he often posts updates about its stunning grounds and history to his social media accounts.
