I have maintained a legacy application written in VB6 that maps vehicle location in near real-time. I then converted the app to the .NET platform. This app would plot the location of multiple vehicles and lay down breadcrumbs that were color coded based on what the vehicle was doing. For instance, if the snowplow had its blade down the application would change the color of the crumbs for that section of road.
