Gov. Kathy Hochul’s CUNY shakeup is fake

$25/hr Starting at $25

So much for the rumored shakeup of the City University board.

Yes, Gov. Kathy Hochul last week named Dr. Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel to the CUNY Board of Trustees.

Since she’s Jewish, that’s an apparent nod to the outcry over the anti-Semitic hate speech during last month’s CUNY Law commencement and the system’s many other antisemitic issues.

But it’s telling that she’ll replace ex-Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer — a prominent backer of the gov’s 2022 Democratic primary rival, ex-Rep. Tom Suozzi.

Plus, Hochul re-appointed board chairman Bill Thompson ( a former city comptroller and prez of the city Board of Education) and his vice-chair Sandra Wilkin to second terms.

Sure, festering antisemitism and radical leftism were gaining traction on CUNY campuses long before Thompson or Wilkin came on the scene, but they’ve done little or nothing to counter the poison.

It took Thompson several days to even issue a statement rebuking CUNY Law grad Fatima Mousa Mohammed’s incendiary commencement address smearing Israel, the NYPD and the entire US military.

This is nothing like the course correction CUNY needs; it’s barely even shuffling deck chair on the Titanic.
