I am a Graphic Designer Students closely read and analyse selected texts in order to develop an understanding of the differences between writings which play a role in further art/design practice, such as artistic, academic, journalistic and literary writings. Referencing styles are introduced whilst the use of notes, quotes, text structures and argumentations are discussed. The objectives of this assignment are: To introduce students to critical reading, improve their reading skills, and learn how to comprehend knowledge, discourse and research in various written forms. Students should be able to analyse, discuss, summarise and reflect upon content and language offered in various texts, as well as grasp the discourse at hand. They should also get acquainted with the academic referencing styles, for example MLA.
