At least 22 people have been killed, seven seriously injured and a passenger missing after a bus crashed into a mountain pass in northern India, police told AFP.
The bus was carrying 30 people, including the driver, to Yamunotri, a Hindu pilgrimage site in a remote area of the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, when it veered off the road in the evening.
The incident took place in Uttarkashi, about 160 km from the state capital Dihradun, and the local control room confirmed 22 deaths.
"The wounded were taken to nearby medical facilities," district police chief Urban Yadvanci told AFP.
Paramedics are still searching for a missing passenger and the death toll “could rise further,” he said.
