I have been an early-stage SaaS CFO/COO for the past 12+ years, both at AngelPoints, the company I co-founded and sold to Vista Equity Partners, and on an interim basis for other companies. As a CFO/COO, I have overseen finance and accounting, budgeting, capital raising/m&a, legal, hr, facilities, risk management, business development and customer success. This breadth of experience allows me to plug into a company quickly and be effective immediately where needed most. My preference is to engage with only one company at a time and structure an engagement (role, hours, compensation) in a way that makes the most sense for the size and stage of the company. I also prefer to work out of the company's offices as much as possible to assimilate with the team. From my experience, early-stage companies can't often justify the expense of hiring a full-time CFO or COO yet they need some leadership in these areas to prepare for scale. I can augment the senior team on a flexible basis, own key operational and financial initiatives for the company, and free up the CEO and others to focus on the more immediate drivers of early-stage success.
