The Kardashian-Jenners are known for their social media presence, using their platforms to post everything from booty pics to brand deals to gym sessions – as well as shade at each other, obvs. But yesterday Kim Kardashian surprised fans by posting a throwback of her first pregnancy, sharing a rare photo of her baby bump.

Taking to her Instagram Story to reminisce on her career in fashion – hot on the heels of her appearance at the Met Gala 2023 – Kim shared a series of photos from her first fashion shoot, which happened during her pregnancy with North West.

"My first fashion shoot ever with North in my belly," she wrote on her Story, alongside a series of photos which showed her posing in front of a camera with late designer Karl Lagerfeld behind the lens. "I gave birth a few weeks after this," she added.

Previously speaking about her pregnancy with North, who is now nine-years-old, Kim admitted that she "did not like it".

"I was not a good pregnant person. I was not a cute pregnant person," she said on Kristen Bell and Monica Padman's podcast We Are Supported By in 2021. "I hated it. I hated how I felt. I hated how I looked."

The reality TV star and business mogul went on: "I was so used to seeing my mom pregnant, my sister pregnant and everyone looking so cute and having these easy deliveries and life was great and they snapped right back. That wasn’t me."

As for why her pregnancy was so difficult, Kim recalled how she was "brutalised" by the media which "killed" her self-esteem. "I can’t believe that this was acceptable and that this was okay," she added of how her appearance during pregnancy was put under the spotlight. "I would sit at home and cry all the time."

"I had this condition called preeclampsia and I didn't know that I had it," she explained of why her appearance changed so much. "It’s over-swelling in your feet and face. I had to deliver six weeks early with an emergency delivery."

"It was insane," Kim continued, adding that the ordeal prevented her from sharing much of her motherhood journey. "It really did change me and it made me really pull back on what I shared and just how much I wanted to give because I saw how nasty everyone was and it felt so bad."

After her first pregnancy, Kim went on to give birth to a second child, Saint West, before welcoming two more children via a surrogate.
