Nathan views leadership as the people business, this principle was applied in a decorated military career to achieve success in operations, exercises and community projects. General John J. Pershing stated that “to get the best out of your men they must feel that you are their real leader and must know that they can depend upon you.” This outlook guided much of Nathan’s success within the military.
