Bill will help better our lives

It is time to choose. This is not a video game, but the future of our children and grandchildren. I know that we are all exhausted and a bit shellshocked by the past two nightmare years of COVID, gun violence and climate disasters, but there is reason to hope.

I want to thank the amazing team of Democrats who just passed a bill that will fund a chance for better lives, to protect against future climate disasters, provide better healthcare, lower prescription costs and be sure that ultra-wealthy corporations pay their taxes (many don’t pay any!).

This is not a video game, but the lives of our children and grandchildren. We are in a lifeboat rowing. Why don’t Republicans grab an oar and help? Why are they smirking while drilling holes in the bottom of our mutual survival?

It is time to choose. We can do this, with God’s help.

Population and climate change

Re: Thomas Bryan’s Aug. 12 letter, “Full analysis needed on climate”:

Mr. Bryan’s letter about the causes of climate change left out the largest and most important reason for climate change. With a doubling of Earth’s population in the last 50 years and no real attention paid to it, population increases will be the cause of humankind’s demise.

What is needed is a complete removal of abortion laws and the legalization of euthanasia. If the population continues to increase at the rate it is, we will end up with 16 billion people on a planet that is already overgrown with 8 billion people over the next 50 years and that is unacceptable.

We, the people of Earth need to get our heads out of the sand of Republican authority and demand action that could save us. Without that we may be headed to the end much sooner than anticipated.

Job of intelligence organizations

America has powerful enemies that want to harm us. They want to attack us as successfully as possible.

To do that, they work to identify our weaknesses and plan how to attack them successfully.

American intelligence agencies and companies identify and compile defenses to minimize the attack. That work is written down, and the documents are protected so that our enemies will not know our plans and will not attack us successfully.

It is the job of American intelligence organizations and companies to do this by carefully controlling the information and the devices to protect the information, and thus make it as hard as possible for America to be damaged. That’s their job. No one else.

Not even the President of the United States.
