A little background: I started out wanting to be a fine art major. I enrolled in art school in the early nineties, planning on getting a degree in fine art, and drawing and painting for the rest of my life. Then someone introduced me to a Mac, and it's been digital ever since. I started out in newspaper and eventually made my way from catalogs to magazines, always staying with print design. Then I began freelancing, and a longtime client offered to have me design his website. Up until then, my only experience with the internet was buying shoes online. But the offer was too good to pass up, as I was being paid to learn as I went; so I accepted, bought a book, and thus added website designer to my resume. Since then I have fine tuned my web skills by taking (and teaching!) classes. Now I am fortunate enough to call myself a print and web designer, something I feel few people in this day and age can do.
