Management Reports

$10/hr Starting at $25

Management Reports play a key part in running any organisation. For business owners, directors, department managers and team leaders, accurate and informative reports are vital. During my career as Finance Director I had great experience in designing and delivering management reports for a wide range of users. At the outset it was always important to identify the real purpose of the report and to make sure it was suited to the users profile - for example figures for a financial user might be presented differently for a non-financial user. Nailing down the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), content and frequency of the report are therefore vital first steps. The use of graphs and charts can also bring management reports to life, bringing out trends and relationships which are harder to spot in a table of numbers. MS Excel and Google Sheets offer great resources to build reports. They can be set up to pull data from larger external sources such as Accounting or Enterprise software systems or larger databases such as SQL and Access. I have attached a couple of examples of the many reports I have designed. The first is an example of a large suite of management reports for a High School Senior Management Team. The report took data from the schools proprietary in house database and automated report production for each department head. The report was automatically emailed to the DH for start of each school week. The report used Excel outlining and grouping, to allow the user to drill down into layers of detail, and focussed on the key performance items that the team had set as their objective.
