Mechanical Design Engineer

$30/hr Starting at $100

Hey there. I am mechanical designer of 9 years whose primary focus is satisfying the customer. During my career, I have solely worked as a mechanical designer designing parts for CNC machining and welder fabricators. I have expanded my abilities over the years by exposing myself to as many areas of engineering as possible; as my philosophy is that my designs will be better with an understanding of how the parts will be made.

During the 5 years I was employed for Sturm Ruger; I spent most of my time at a desk with Solidworks and AutoCad. However, I took it upon myself to learn every area of the shop that I could. I was a toolmakers apprentice while there for about 2 years and a welder fabricator apprentice at same time. I found being able to have a physical mock up of my ideas as well as a visual mock up instilled more confidence in my team that my design is viable and should be produced. My tenure at Ruger included mostly designing part assembly stations and part nesting fixtures for machining, however was not limited to just that. Building/Machine layouts were also a part of my job.

My strong areas of engineering are designing parts for CNC and prototyping, however; I have done work with sheet metal parts and back lit components thanks to my time at Simtek Inc., and Koald Design LLC. In general, I am very interested in engineering and continue to improve my scope of expertise.
