I'm a degreed design engineer specialised in electronic packaging & production. Don't be confused with the term "packaging": it refers to enclosures and protective features built into the product itself, and not to shipping containers.
My skill is very close to a mechanical design engineer. But an electronic packaging (of a missile flight control system as an example) is a challenging task. In addition to skills in mechanics, it requires some knowledge in many fields, from chemistry to circuit design and programming, as well as a good command in various CAD/CAM systems.
•Design injection molded plastic parts, stamped and folded metal sheet parts, CNC-machined parts, machined-and-welded assemblies.
•Make a proper layout for your electronic circuit that solves EMC, thermal, and structural integrity issues.
•Make some minor changes to your electronic circuit or redesign it on the base of components' reference designs.
•Accurately route PCB.
•Provide you with 3D models and CAM files.
