I have been in the medical filed for over 15 years!! I started off as a certified Medical Secretary, where I answered phones, accurately entered in Dr.'s orders for patient charts, and assisted the nursing staff as need. I have been a Laboratory accessioner where I entered patient demographic information into the hospital LIS system to include home addresses and insurance/payment information. I also order lab test for specimens. I currently am a microbiology technician where I read culture plates, enter in results,and interpret bacteria sensitivities to antibiotics.
