I earned my doctoral degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. During my doctoral research, I worked on Biosystems and Bioprocess Engineering under the direction of Professor K.J. Mukherjee. I have completed my Ph.D. thesis entitled “Structural Modeling of Geobacillus by transcriptomic and proteomic profiling”.
To give a brief overview of my background, during my academics (Bachelor's and Master's) I have been exposed to both experimental and computational aspects of biology. Subsequently, I have joined the School of Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University as a Ph.D. student and acquired skills in Microbial physiology, Genetic Engineering, Microbiology, Systems Biology, and Bioprocess Engineering.
As a Ph.D. candidate, I was working in a collaborative INDO-UK project entitled “RICEFUEL: Engineering enzymes, bacteria, and bioconversion processes for advanced biofuels from waste grain straw” during my doctoral research. My current research focuses on bacterial systems biology along with omics technology.
Moreover, I have more than one year of teaching experience. I have cleared the CSIR-NET exam for teaching at the university level. I am also tutoring in the coaching center on a part-time basis.
Thank you for your kind consideration.
Sincerely,
Ritu Som
