Brazil is widening the gap a little more at the top of the new FIFA rankings, published on Thursday, ahead of Belgium, Argentina and France, still fourth. Neymar and his teammates consolidated their first place after their wide successes against Ghana (3-0) and Tunisia (5-1) in a friendly in September.

The only notable change at the top of the table, was the jump of Italy, the significant absentee from the World Cup in Qatar (November 20-December 18), to sixth place, just ahead of Spain. The Blues, ousted from the podium last June, have still not managed to climb there again.
