Operation Mngr Case Study

$8/hr Starting at $40

Chudhery, M.A.Z., Xie, J., Chou, M.C., Sim, J., Safdar, S., & Liu, Z. (2018). The National University Hospital: Overcrowding in the emergency department. Ivey Publishing (W18343-PDF-ENG). London, Ontario: Ivey Business School Foundation. Here you will have an opportunity to: • Use flowcharts to analyze the patient flow and to identify the bottlenecks. • Use scheduling to support in-patient operations management. • Understand process management and related techniques in hospital operations. Case Questions Your task is to read the case, analyze the case, and prepare a report that answers the following questions: 1. What are the possible causes of the emergency department's overcrowding? What are the expected bottlenecks? 2. What alternative solutions could reduce the emergency department's overcrowding? 3. What optimal policy should the National University Hospital implement to reduce emergency department overcrowding? How should the hospital execute this policy? 4. BONUS MARK (10%): Include a correctly formatted flowchart showing the patient flow and identify bottlenecks in the process. Style of Report • Not APA; however, any citations/references must follow APA format (this is an academic course, after all!). • Keep it simple. In your paper, number the questions (1 to 3) and answer the questions directly under each number. Bullet points are fine; however, good sentence structure and grammar are important. • A title page is desired - include a title for your report (or just write: Assignment #1) with your name, date, course name (ENMN427 Operations Management). • Please DOUBLE SPACE EVERYTHING and use 12-pt. Times New Roman font (it's easiest to read). • Up to 2,500 words maximum for this report, please. If anything, LESS is MORE. • For guidance on APA references and citations, please refer to https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_style_introduction.html
