People slam me for parking in a disabled bay – but they are left speechless when I prove why I need it.

The footage shows the van driver slowing in front of his car, before winding down his window to speak.

The driver allegedly asks for proof of Ben's disability, to which he points at his blue badge.

To make sure the driver fully believes him, the traffic engineer then lifts his trouser leg in the air, revealing his prosthetic leg.

Describing the stand-off, the amputee jokingly Tweeted: "Just because I know how much you all love these stories!".

He went on to add the man told him: "'Oi, that’s a disabled space, you can’t park there.'"

Ben said of his reply: “'Why not? I’m disabled.'”

He said the other driver then went on: “'Where’s your blue badge?'"

Ben, who used to be a special constable, said he pointed at his badge, explaining: "Look, I've got one leg," to which the man is said to have responded: “'Oh okay then.'”.
