Born on September 17, 1995, Patrick Lavon Mahomes II plays quarterback for the National Football League's Kansas City Chiefs. (NFL). He initially played collegiate football and baseball at Texas Tech University. Pat Mahomes is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher's son. He gave up baseball after his sophomore season to concentrate completely on football. He topped all NCAA Division I FBS players in several categories during his junior year, including passing yards (5,052) and total touchdowns. (53). In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected him with the tenth overall pick.


During his first season, Mahomes served as Alex Smith's backup. After the Chiefs traded Smith to the Washington Redskins in 2018, he was designated the starter. Mahomes passed for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions throughout that season. He became the first quarterback in NFL and collegiate history to throw for more than 5,000 yards in a single season. He and Peyton Manning are the only NFL players to have 50 passing touchdowns and 5,000 passing yards in the same season. He won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and NFL Most Valuable Player awards for his play during his debut season as a starter, and he was also selected to the Pro Bowl and the debut Team All-Pro. Mahomes guided the Kansas City Chiefs to their first Super Bowl trip in 50 years during the 2019 season as they defeated the San Francisco 49ers. Mahomes was the second black quarterback and youngest overall to win the Super Bowl MVP award for his performance. Additionally, he is the third quarterback of African descent to win a Super Bowl. The third-largest known contract in sporting history was signed by Mahomes in 2020, when he agreed to a 10-year extension worth $477 million, plus an additional $26 million in potential bonuses. He led the Chiefs to their second straight Super Bowl the year after agreeing to his contract. In the After Kurt Warner in 1999, Mahomes became the first player to win the NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP in the same year. He also joined Tom Brady and Joe Montana as the only quarterbacks to win multiple regular season and Super Bowl MVPs.
