Piping and Layout design Engineer

$38/hr Starting at $7K

  • Detailed plant layout preparation in accordance to engineering good practices, developing single line structure to lay the piping distribution and the equipment evaluation
  • Carry out facility engineering studies and design
  • Supervise and direct Piping designers to generate conceptual E3D models of piping drawings from studies and P&ID using piping material specification document according to standard and/or as requested by client.
  • Prepare detailed drawings for modification and additions to existing facilities based on recommendations and data from client.
  • Check key Project documents according to internal procedures
  • Engineering design and document review prepared both internally and by vendor
  • P&ID Mechanisation
  • Coordinate with other project department lead engineers and disciplines to ensure piping systems, layout & equipment spacing requirements are within project codes and standards.
  • Equipment modelling using PDMS and locating them on plot plan.
  • Generate plot plan, Piping GA, isometric drawings from E3D and standardize with AutoCAD.
  • Analyse design information from other discipline or contractors, resolve difficulties, and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Site survey/visit for data gathering to develop brownfield models, tie-in’s and constructability 
  • Pump piping design. 
  • Model review (30%, 60%, 90%).
  • Pipe support selection modelling and placement.
  • Prepare Material Take-off, Request for Quotation, tie-in list and specialty item list from E3D model, P&ID & piping material specification document according to standard.
  • Apply and ensure design standards and principles are in compliance with all applicable Codes and Specifications such as API, ASME, ANSI, DEP etc.
  • Analyse and understand Tender documentation
  • Define Discipline list of activities and deliverables and coordinate activities in accordance with Project schedule
  • Coordinate material quantities and weight estimation
  • Prepare engineering manhour and material cost estimations
  • Ensure the achievement of the assigned goal and the fulfillment of the Project quality and contractual requirements. Take the necessary corrective actions within the Discipline Project Team to meet the assigned goal. Report to the piping lead for more extensive problems
  • Ensure subcontractor coordination and monitoring/reporting to PM of the Discipline budget costs
  • Ensure proper Discipline workflow, interfaces, quality checks and approval of all Discipline Project documents, including Vendor ones
  • Track and report to project engineer, Discipline scope of work changes updating manhour and cost estimates
  • Ensure Technical Bid Evaluations
  • Support the construction team in implementing the engineering solutions at site
