I am an experienced, proven, illustrator of children's books and resource materials for the publishing trades. I have completed over 4,000 spot and technical illustrations for textbooks and workbooks from K - 12 as well as spots for magazines, books, e-zines, and other publications. I have successfully completed hundreds of projects with budgets very large and very small. I have worked in conjunction with multi-skilled teams including authors, editors, production artists, project managers. I am very skilled in helping the novice walk through the paths of self publishing, as well as providing quick, deadline driven, changes and corrections in fast paced corporate publishing environments. I teach part time at my local community college (it forces me to leave the studio and interact with the human race). I tell my students that illustrators are "plumbers with pens." We work in a service industry solving visual problems. This is not just a tenet of my beliefs, it is doctrine that I build

    They say the devil is in the details.. Well, I'm here to tell ya, if he is I can't tell. Van Etten Studios and specifically 'Dave' is a heaven send! I had strict deadlines at the beginning of my project and Dave rendered a design and delivered in 48 hours!! The lines and detail were fantastic! Our business scope changed and we made Van Etten Studios aware of that fact and they adapted with us without losing the fire needed to create a fabulous design.  In the end, we received what we believe is the best value hands down! Before this feedback I was in no way affiliated with Dave and Van Etten Studios. I'm here to say that now I am because I'll go back to them for all my illustration needs. 5 stars!
