I am a Web greybeard, having programmed for it since Spry Mosaic was released in the early 1990s. HTML, CGI, Javascript, Flash, AJAX, and most of the other various technologies are like old friends (or fiends, for the ones I have tried and recommend against). I analyze a complete request, often coming up with features or ways of doing things simpler or better than what was originally thought of. More than one of my clients has founded an entire business off of my code, though I usually work on smaller projects than that.
