Whether it be spotting errors in blog posts, school yearbooks, newspapers, or simple grammatical errors in text messages that I oh-so-badly want to correct but can't because I don't want to be THAT person - I have always had a knack for pointing out inconsistencies in everyday reads, and because of that, I realized I have been proofreading unintentionally since before I knew what 'proofreading' was. For me, it's second nature. My goal is to utilize that skill to help protect you from being under siege by English professors and nitpicky readers such as myself.
My skill set:
• Finding and correcting grammatical and typographical errors in children's books and young adult/adult fiction and fantasy novels. This does NOT include editing your work to fit the theme of the novel or the overall flow of the story.
• Identifying and correcting grammatical mistakes in documents, brochures, pamphlets, and magazines on the topic of travel, food, and other subjects that may be considered an everyday read. This does NOT include medical journals or texts originating from legal offices or similar government facilities.
• Rephrasing original text to ensure the content remains consistent throughout.
• Comparing the original copy to typeset proofs to recognize outstanding errors and mistakes.
• Reading and evaluating blog posts, professional ads, newsletters, emails, and relating articles and texts for grammatical errors needing to be corrected.
My qualifications:
• I have 3+ years of experience proofreading drafts of fiction and fantasy novels.
• I have excellent attention to detail and an eye for mistakes. When you hire me to proofread your document, you can expect it to be returned to you knowing my best effort had been put into the work I had done. • Once I begin a project, I am determined to see it through. I complete my work with the quickest turnaround time I am able while also triple-checking myself to ensure no mistakes were made during the proofreading process and it meets your standards.
• When I am unsure of a certain detail in a certain topic or subject, I will research that grey area until the problem is solved or I have found the answer I needed. I like to complete my work knowing everything is accurate and that all the facts given are correct.
• I am fully capable of proofreading in such a way as to keep your personality shown in the text present throughout. When I hand the finished product back to you, the text will flow as if there was never a second person who touched it.
• I am familiar and comfortable with Google Docs, Microsoft Word, spreadsheets, and the ins and outs of working on the internet for long periods of time.
