Public Relations Specialist

$35/hr Starting at $500

During my undergraduate college years at Pace University in Pleasantville, New York, I was the first student on campus to ever have served as editor of the school newspaper and then also the campus literary magazine. Along the way, I also convinced the university's administration to sponsor a one-off publication (of which I also served as editor) to celebrate the school's woman's basketball team, which was at that time making its first-ever run on the NCAA playoffs. All that work — and particularly the experience of "selling" the idea of the woman's basketball project to the administration — led naturally to other projects and additional clients, and shortly after graduation, I was working as a founding partner in a consultancy that specialized in providing advice to municipal, civic and political clients. Our flagship client was the City of Peekskill, New York, for whom we created an award-winning campaign, the "Riverfront Summer," which ran for more than a decade. We also greatly reduced the City's production and printing expenditures for its Recreation and Parks department, through the introduction of new technology and a vendor selection review. The results of our initial work with the Recreation and Parks department were such that I continued to work for the City on a freelance basis for several years even after the dissolution of the original consultancy, when I had already gone on to a corporate publishing career. As a specialist well experienced in formulating and executing campaigns end-to-end, from initial concept to outcome analysis, I have been privileged to witness the power of good ideas being transformed into positive results for my clients. I look forward to doing the same for you!
