A National Security writer, Apple Rosales used to write for the Office of the Secretary, Department of National Defense, at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, Philippines. She prepared write-ups regarding national security as required by the Secretary of National Defense. She wrote the Philippine Campaign Against Terrorism, the paper presented by the previous Secretary, Gen. Angelo T. Reyes, together with Her Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, to President George Bush of the United States. This paper subsequently led to military assistance by the United States to the Philippines, and the exercise which is now known as BALIKATAN. She was also part of the team which prepares the Defense White Paper that is presented by every member country to the United Nations every year.
