The champion of the Champions League semi-finals at Real Madrid, young player Rodrigo Goes, expected to score a goal in the final against Liverpool.
Real Madrid had entered the return match against Manchester City, who lost it (4-3) in the first leg, and was late in the meeting after the goal of the Algerian Riyad Mahrez.
Before Rodrygo scored in the 90th minute to give the royal team a new hope, and after about 90 seconds, his colleague Daniel Carvajal deposited a wonderful cross on his head, to advance the capital club and the match went to overtime.
What did Rodrygo say about facing Liverpool?
The Brazilian said: "I bet my father that I would score three goals, but I scored only two. I am missing one, I will get it in the final."
He continued: "With this shirt anything can happen, we fight to the end, and the truth is that I have no words to describe what happened, we were on the verge of death, but God helped me."
"It was one of the happiest days of my life, being able to come in, change the game and score two goals, made it another magical night at the Bernabeu, as always, and the fans are helping us in an inexplicable way."
What does Rodrigo offer with the royal?
Rodrygo has taken time to make an impact at Madrid since his €45m move from Flamengo in 2019 but he is finally starting to prove his potential.
The 21-year-old now plays regularly with coach Carlo Ancelotti alongside Benzema and Vinicius Junior, and the Italian showed on Wednesday night that he has no problem delivering on this big occasion.
