On the boring, traditional front I have 20+ years teaching experience working with adolescents with behavioural problems. I have dug ditches, chopped down trees, managed a large database and network. I written a novel that has been the subject of a High Court claim. I have set up websites, eg. hewasanutter.com. I have represented several people in court - one case taking over a week - I am able to assimilate masses of information and compile into a succinct summary or argument. I can write like a lawyer but love to write creatively, here's a taster;- I MUST ROLL OR DIE My profile photo shows me out paddling, I love the sea when it is whipped up by the wind and my kayak is tossed from wave-top to wave-top. It is inevitable that some of those peaks and troughs will cause me to crash and have to roll myself back upright, that's life. The life of the modern man is constrained by society. Without finding an outlet that allows for the fuller expression of the soul's desires he is heading for the scrapyard of despair. Is he going to allow himself to be dragged into the oblivion that has been given to us by the PC brigade? Or is he going to pull himself out of the dross, to rise like the Phoenix, to ascend like Icarus, to tempt the Fates? Or has society already cast him into its cocoon of containment from which he will never emerge? Does the gender pronoun 'He' affect you? Have you ever stopped to think why? Am I not able to express myself without the prejudices of my reader preventing me from saying what I would like to say without fear of causing upset? We live in a time where so many narratives are vying for dominance that to place our lives into a simple piece of carved wood, a precision honed paddle that will allow me to roll back up from the deepest, darkest troughs is a release. I have no time to think of all the subtle nuances that I must incorporate into my writing - for fear that I may offend - I must roll or die. We live in a time where the reader flits from wave-top to wave-top, no in depth reading or analysis takes place, it is the land of instant gratification, a land where, if the subject matter is too challenging then click the button and something not so tasking will present itself. Copywriting produces verbage for the masses, they feed upon it and digest, like everyone today I can produce what is required but how I would love to feel that wave rising beneath me, to lift me out of the gloom of our hum-drum existence, to hear the power of the gathering foam as I am launched forwards... my speed accelerates, I am cast into another realm, I am as one with the elements, my bows are buried deep into the green-blue brine, I am flipped, somersaulting and tossed like a storm chased petrel, the power of the ocean is revealed to me, for are we all not the descendants of God? I could continue but by now my reader will have understood me, they will have shared in my own uniqueness, if they read my words do I also share in their uniqueness?
