Second suspect in Canada stabbings has died in police custody

Myles Sanderson, the suspect in the mass stabbing in Saskatchewan, Canada, died after going into “medical distress” after his arrest. The other suspect, Damien Sanderson, was found dead a day after the attacks with injuries that were not believed to be self-inflicted. The men were wanted in connection with the deaths of 10 of the stabbing victims.

Galway cannabis seizure

Two men have been arrested after gardaí seized €465,000 worth of drugs from their property in Ballygar, Co. Galway. There was €465,000 worthy of cannabis discovered on the property, and both men have since been charged, and are due to appear before Ballinasloe District Court.

China earthquake

In the aftermath of Monday’s earthquake in south-west China, heavy rainfall has complicated recovery efforts on the ground, where the death toll from the disaster has risen to 82. Over 20,000 people have been moved to temporary shelters due to the threat of landslides and buildings collapsing in the mountainous region of Sichuan province. Rain is expected to last until at least Friday.

Rising interest rates

The European Central Bank’s Governing Council is expected to agree on an increase in interest rates again, after having done so previous by 0.5% just back in July. A 0.75% increase is speculated as inflation escalates and the energy crisis continues to intensify.
