Australian showbiz guru takes aim at Meghan Markle for not attending King Charles III's Coronation: 'She doesn't want to face the music'

Australian entertainment reporter Peter Ford has unleashed on Meghan Markle for choosing not to attend King Charles III's Coronation.

Peter appeared on 6PR Breakfast with Millsy and Karl on Thursday to discuss the news the Duchess of Sussex is set to snub her father-in-law's momentous day.

'She knows there's aggro [aggression], she knows there's the potential of people booing her. She doesn't want to face the music of the mayhem and distress that she's largely been responsible for,' Mr Ford said.

He went on to label her decision to stay home and look after the couple's two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as a 'rubbish' excuse.

Prince Harry is set to attend the Coronation, with Buckingham Palace releasing a statement saying King Charles was 'very disappointed' to not have Meghan and his grandchildren at the event.

In the same statement it said King Charles was 'happy' to have Prince Harry in attendance.

'Having said all that there is a little part of me that does feel sorry for them both,' Ford continued.

'In that, no matter what they decided people would be coming after them.'

'I think it probably is the best outcome,' he finished.

It comes after Ford previously slammed The Duchess for releasing her podcast episode hours before the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana's death.

The outspoken showbiz reporter couldn't hide his disapproval in September, telling The Morning Show: 'This anniversary wasn't exactly a surprise; we knew it was coming.'

'So why would you schedule that interview for yesterday? Why not put the podcast off for a week. You know, get out of the news cycle,' he added to co-hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies.

Ford, who has never been shy to criticise the Sussexes, later reposted the segment to Twitter, adding the snarky caption: 'On the actual 25th anniversary of Princess Diana's death, guess who inserts herself into the news cycle?'

In a series of other tweets, Ford suggested Meghan could have honoured Diana's legacy instead of releasing another celebrity interview.

'[She could have done] a podcast that drops today that talks about Diana's legacy and causes she supported. Would actually get massive coverage had she done it,' Ford tweeted at the time.

'Or alternately she has the sway to tell Spotify to not release it for 24 hours. Surely this must cross Harry's mind?' he finished.
