The German government: It does not provide guarantees from NATO to Ukraine
BERLIN (Reuters) - A German government spokesman said on Sunday that discussions about possible NATO security guarantees for Ukraine had not progressed for months.
"In the recent meeting of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, this issue had no role at all," the spokesman said in a statement.
The statement follows a recent Wall Street Journal report that some of NATO's largest European members are proposing to sign a defense treaty with Ukraine.
