To predict the thermal effects of the building envelope, 2D and 3D heat-transfer calculation software can be used to simulate the effects in the building fabric to identify any thermal bridges. This is of particular interest in complex designs of curtain wall with bespoke extrusions and allows evaluation of a product’s energy efficiency and local temperature patterns which may relate directly to problems with condensation, moisture damage, and structural integrity.
