'Viper' killer Charles Sobhraj returns to France after nearly two decades

After arriving in Paris, Sobhraj told French media he had "a lot of people to prosecute" and claimed he was not guilty of murder.

Convicted murderer Charles Sobraj has arrived in France after being released from a Nepalese prison.

The serial killer known as "The Viper", who is believed to have killed more than 20 Western backpackers in "hippie trials" through Asia in the 1970s and 80s, has landed in Paris.

After nearly 20 years in a Nepalese jail, the Frenchman landed at Charles de Gaulle airport just after 7am on December 24.
