Talks to clients in order to obtain a clear understanding of their requirements, including preparing booklets, brochures, advertisements, in-house magazines, newsletters, training and technical manuals, stationery, and books ready for printing or publishing; Prepares quotations for work contracts; Operates desktop publishing software and equipment to design, lay out, and produce camera-ready copy; Amends layout, selects fonts and integrates text with graphics, such as logos, graphs and charts, to create a balanced and readable document; Views monitors for visual representation of work in progress and for instructions and feedback throughout process, making modifications as necessary. Produces graphics from an original concept, either free-hand or by computer; Merges photographs with computer images, scans and adjusts colors for the publication; Saves ‘print-ready’ copy, and forwards it to the printing or publishing house for mass production.
