Hello, my name is Mark Hammers and I am a Veteran who served 12 years in the US Army. During that time, I served in multiple duty stations and was deployed multiple times to Afghanistan. While deployed, I was injured and due to those injuries, I am now medically retired. Adjusting to civilian life and facing PTSD can be difficult for many Veterans out there and I was no exception. With support of my wonderful wife, Jessica, my two awesome boys, Darrion and Zachary, other Veterans, family and friends, and a wonderful program called 21st Century Heroes; I began to heal my mind and invisible wounds through carving. Having this creative outlet has not only helped me heal tremendously, but I finally get to do what I really enjoy! Now not only can I carve, but I can do custom drawings and illustrations as well. I can bring your ideas to life! Have a unique idea, a picture of a loved one you want recreated, a custom hand carved gift for the special someone? “You name it and I can carve it!” Everything I hand carve and draw can be personalized and customized to your liking! I use traditional methods for wood carving. I also design and prepare all art for the carvings. I can carve wood signs, functional décor and utensils, plaques, wall art, and 3d art. I do everything from nature scenes, coffee scoops, guitar picks, custom carved recreations of photos, live-edge wood serving platters and more! Not looking for a wood carving, I also do pyrography. Anything from cartoon images to hand drawn designs. Can be put on wood platters or just a hanging piece of art. I also can mix up wood carving with pyrography to create a unique look. I can do custom work or bulk creation.
