Writer of All Things & Editor

$50/hr Starting at $100

A little about me: I am the author of four books and have ghostwritten countless others. I have been nominated for an award by the American Library Association’s GLBT Round Table, but ultimately lost (womp, womp).  I have 14 years of experience in fiction, journalism, editorial leadership, and non-profit communications & grant writing/management. I am recognized for delivering high-quality content across diverse formats — novels, magazine articles, grant proposals, and print & web copy — that engages audiences and drives results. Skilled in AP style, developmental editing, and narrative driven by characters both in fiction and at the center of real-world stories. I’m known for creating characters readers can relate to in my creative writing and knowing how to relate the truth of non-fiction to readers from all walks of life. These two worlds of writing may seem like oil and water, but as it turns out, I’m rather adept at balancing creative vision of a writer with the editorial precision of an editor and non-fiction writer to produce work that resonates and performs in every facet of what I do.

In terms of grants, my proposals have won grants starting at $10,000 and going up from the HEB Community Foundation, the Tyson Foods Foundation, the Houston BIPOC Arts Network Fund, and various other grantors.

I have worked as a ghostwriter for HotGhostWriter, Trident Publishing Holdings, Untreed Reads, and Mighty Muse Publications, as well as for many private clients. I have been or still am a grant writer for Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts (MECA), the Indo-American Association (IAA), Pride Houston, Inc (where I also served as communications director and volunteer coordinator), Our Mission Guided By Faith Foundation (OMGBFF), and Our Faith By His Grace Foundation (OFBHGF). I also served as chief editor of About Magazine for three years.

You can find my books The Write Thing, Where He Lay Down, and Less Than Butterflies wherever books are sold.
