Writing a book can be overwhelming. Whether you are writing a book of poems, short stories, an autobiography or epic novel. It is important to know the details behind your intended work. This project should be broken down into a few steps. 1- Planning(know your characters, their motives and how the book will proceed) 2-Layout (do you know the number of characters, sections within chapters). These are important questions to consider. Did you know that most genres have specific word count ranges. So no matter how good a writer you are or how wonderful the book is, the publishers or agents will not even look at it if it doesn't fit within their given limits. 3-Sublots: books need a supporting cast of good and evil characters to keep the story going and plots and interwoven sublots to propel the book on its delicate journey. 4-Flow: the paragraphs and sentences should be structured to let the story float down the river of the story. 5-Twists.All good books have twists and more twists. These turning points are what keep the reader hooked and interested to keep turning the pages. Ending - The ending is one of the most crucial parts. You could have written a great story. A good build up to the finale but the ending itself leaves a lot to be desired. Leaving the reader with a nagging feeling of unsatisfaction. Keep that in mind as you plan an ending. Apart from the points mentioned above, a writer must also be ready to embrace multiple personalities that he or she will bring to life in the canvas he weaves and brings to life for his audiences. Choose wisely between using "I" or using a character as the main voice of your narrative. Some audiences are partial to one of those as a subject to your verbs. Fiction or nonfiction this is obviously the preference of the writer. But above all, write whatever resonates with you, with your inner core. This is because it is easier to flow with things that come naturally and that are not forced. Also whatever you enjoy is a good way to proceed becuase writing then becomes fun and not a bothersome chore. Believe it or not this mood that is in you will come out in the writing and the reader will not like the flavor of the story. If you are interested in writing, the first thing you should do is ask yourself why you want to write. It is better to do it because you enjoy it and not because of the money. That will come in time if you really enjoy yourself as you write, then this spirit will be infectious and carry on to your reader. Try reading some books and the genre or genres that you enjoy are the ones that you need to write about because - for give the pun - they lit your fire. When you do decide to jump in and actually write make sure you understand the basics of your plot. Study and polish up on your grammar and spelling. Write out the basic outline of your book. Then get inspired. Psyche yourself out. Get into the spirit. Do not be afraid of failure. You can do it! Believe in yourself. Good luck!
