I am writing to provide a reference for Abraham Gutmann. In the 1980s we were business partners in a publishing enterprise called Mercy Oceans Books. I am happy to provide a reference for Abraham Gutmann. I have had the pleasure of knowing Abe for four years; for more than two of those years, I worked with him on the translation and production of From Suffering to Joy: The Path of the Heart, which is based on discourses of Sri Prem Baba delivered

I can attest to Abe’s abilities to craft language while keeping the big picture in mind with regard to message and wording. I found Abe to be an unusually skilled translator, critical editor, and articulate ghost-writer. He is especially adept at taking into account and anticipating the sensibilities of the reader, of finding that “way in”. Abe contributed to decisions as to which material to include in the book, the order of chapters, and especially the tone and preparation needed to approach topics. Abe also made some valuable contributions to the text itself. Abe
