New to Guru and open to a wide range of writing projects!

I have a BA and an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from The University of Texas at Austin. After obtaining my BA, I spent about three years as a refugee resettlement case worker at The International Rescue Committee in Los Angeles, CA, where I used the Persian language on a daily basis and in a professional context. Since then, I have earned many years of experience as a professional translator and interpreter in a variety of contexts. My experience includes translation of short stories, novels, news articles, legal and medical documents, and oral histories, among others. The bulk of my experience is in Persian (Farsi) to English translation, however I relocated to Brazil earlier this year and have been learning Portuguese with an eye to finding work as a Portuguese to English translator.
