I love languages and moving and words, especially if they occur under trees. I smile a lot and roller skate even more often. Here's a little breakdown of the contents of my tagline, which allow me to live every day uniquely and creatively:
writer
I have self-published to anthologies that how have homes around the world. These projects have led me to tour throughout the US, Canada, and the UK to facilitate book events, creative writing and story telling workshops, and community-based performances. I am currently wrapping up my first children's book. I enjoy and thrive on supporting people of all writing and language backgrounds to produce and dream up something that feels like theirs.
roller skater
Through many years of skating in competitions, performing in collaboration with circuses and musicians, and 12+ years of teaching private and group lessons, skating is dear to me. I have been awarded 10 national and regional medals and was 2007 Michigan Skater of the Year. It's important to my sanity to continue to find ways to both teach roller skating and have artistic collaborations.
performer and organizer
I am a working actress and dancer--much of my past work as connected with themes of social justice or community healing. I have organized international touring performance groups in solidarity with domestic violence survivors, held years of training and teaching in contact improvisation, now with with an Off-Broadway Theatre company. I have also gained many skills through my past work with grassroots activist groups, Amnesty International, and the UN.
teacher and life coach
Beyond roller skating and contact improvisation, I have taught and tutored English in political asylum seekers in Austin, Detroit, and rural Belgium, math to elementary students, and survivor support skills through the Lorain County Rape Crisis Center. I also support individuals through chaos/hurt/feeling stuck in relationships, career, spirituality, and living life fully.
Work Terms
My hours are flexible! And can easily mesh with those who live 9-5 jobs. I charge sliding scale $15 to $25 an hour for writing and language, skating, movement, and life-coaching sessions. If there is another thing that you think I could help you with! Just let me know :)
