Affordable editing for authors by an author
Hi, I'm Alexis (Lexi), a 22-year-old freelance editor from the United States.
I'm a recent college graduate with dual bachelor's degrees in English and Creative Writing, as well as dual associate's degrees in Liberal Arts and Psychology. Upon graduating from Arkansas Tech University in May of 2025, I launched my freelance editing business, where I offer copy and line editing, developmental editing, proofreading, and alpha/beta reading services.
With over 5 years of writing experience, I know how much of ourselves we put into our work, and I'm committed to helping other writers succeed. I am currently writing my first novel, and I have work forthcoming in the Fall 2025 issue of Bridge: the Bluffton University Literary Journal.
I may be new to the industry, but I am no stranger to the craft.
Work Terms
For editing and proofreading services, I accept Word documents or Google Docs with editing and commenting permissions. I use the 'Track Changes' feature for copy and line editing and proofreading, and the commenting feature for developmental editing suggestions. Each level of editing I provide comes with an extensive editorial letter detailing my suggestions. For alpha/beta reading services, I accept PDF, eBook, or Word/Google Doc formats. My alpha and beta reading services come with an extensive beta reader report, which takes note of character and plot development, worldbuilding, and genre alignment. I am, of course, open to signing NDAs or any other confidentiality agreements, regardless of the type of services I provide.
Since my fees are based on word count, I would prefer fixed-price contracts.
In terms of working hours, I do my best work at night, but I am available for communication during the day.
