I am a freelance proofreader and a qualified teacher with a love of learning. My background in education and maths degree support me to work methodically through a project looking for the finer details and improving your writing. I love working with figures, tables, maps and diagrams using my mathematical knowledge.

During my proofreading I will check for spelling, grammar and punctuation to ensure accuracy. My analytical mind helps me to cross-check for consistency in style, layout and content. During my training with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading my feedback said I was very thorough, spotting errors in the assignments that the tutors had missed, a mathematical error.

My experience includes proofreading Teacher's Phonics Guides and Maths Textbooks using my experience in teaching. Also proofreading Travel Guidebooks following my love of holidays. I have proofread a website for an IT training company, supporting them with accurately portraying their training requirements. I have supported a colleague with dyslexia by reading through all of her learning documentation about her key children before sharing with parents. I have proofread for an IT training company, Academy Class, reading through manuals for their updates of Adobe software. My passion for education has led to me proofreading a termly educational magazine called Scallywags. Also, I have proofread e-learning assessments based on primary education. My love of maths has led me to proofread a guidebook for Cicerone Press. I enjoy all the finer details of map reading and figures. Students have contacted me for support with Harvard referencing in their essays. I have proofread an essay on nursing and links with families and carers. I have proofread a dissertation for a nursing student on shame.

My proofreading can be done on paper or digitally. I am skilled in using Microsoft Word with Track changes and commenting tools. I am competent using BSI proofreading symbols.

Work Terms

My rates are £10 per 1,000 words for projects less than 30,000 words.
£6 per 1,000 words for projects more than 30,000 words.
