I am clinical lead for innovation in a large healthcare organisation. I have vast experience across many parts of healthcare including many secondary care specialties, primary care and corporate services. Currently, my day job is assessing the potential of innovation products to help us transform healthcare delivery, whilst maintaining a focus on both the very highest quality and sustainability. I am responsible for all aspects of innovation strategy and operational delivery. I co-develop innovation products especially in the area of psychological interventions to improve welbeing and self-management, and design evaluation processes for any products we test-bed.
I am a consultant health psychologist, qualified for 20 years. I was the first ever consultant health psychologist in Scotland and one of the first in the UK. My area of expertise is chronic disease management, in particular diabetes. The services I lead have a national reputation for being innovative. For example, we developed the first psychological intervention (ACT Now!) ever assessed by the Scottish Health Technology Group, an indepedent body providing evidence-based advice to NHS Scotland on the use of new and existing health technologies which are not medicines and which are likely to have significant implications for people’s care http://www.healthcareimprovementscotland.org/our_work/technologies_and_medicines/shtg.aspx.
I have excellent writing skills, routinely writing policy, position or review documents for our executive team, the government, scientific journals and national funding bodies.
I have good presentation skills. I have delivered presentations at numerous scientific conferences, and to the exectuive team and board, to both the Houses of Parliament and Holyrood, and to industry to inform policy and strategy.
I am a member of Opportunity North East, Life Sciences board (ONE are a private sector catalyst driving transformational change in north east Scotland’s economy).
