About

Backend programmer (Ruby, RoR, C++, Qt)

Hello!

My name is Aureliu Brinzeanu.

I am a backend and application developer from Moldova.

Let me tell you some history of mine.

I was in love with computers and software development from my early youth in the 80s, starting with Fortran, Basic, Assembler, Pascal as a student, and then working with FoxPro DBMS, Microsoft Quick C and Assembler in the 90s. The most interesting project I have worked on in the 90s, was a hardware complex for performing video effects and subtitling in real-time on TV broadcasting. We presented our machine at the Svyazi Expocomm Moscow fair in 1995.

I had a period of shifting my activity to hardware reselling and assembling PCs, laptops and servers - from 1997 to 2012.

Then, I returned to software development and dived into developing backend software for the web.

I am mostly experienced in Ruby language programming using Ruby on Rails, Grape, Trailblazer and Roda frameworks, Postgres SQL and Redis DBs, Que, Sidekiq and DelayedJob job schedulers, AWS Lambda and S3, Twilio, Salesforce, and several other APIs.

Have a good experience in writing tests using RSpec and MiniTest, Capybara. Also code refactoring, upgrading Rails applications, investigating, and fixing bugs.

Used Swagger (Open API) in my work and even contributed to grape-swagger Ruby gem (https://github.com/ruby-grape/grape-swagger/commits?author=texpert).

Also, my other contributions to OSS could be found on my GitHub profile:

- Ruby wrapper for ngrok v2.x or v3.x - https://github.com/texpert/ngrok-wrapper
- it is a spin-off project, based on the abandoned https://github.com/bogdanovich/ngrok-tunnel gem
- The AWS Lambda plugin for Shrine file attachment toolkit - https://github.com/texpert/shrine-aws-lambda
- An AWS Lambda function in JS for resizing images - https://github.com/texpert/lambda-image-resize.js
- I am contributing sometimes to the camaleon-cms Ruby gem - https://github.com/owen2345/camaleon-cms/commits?author=texpert
- At my last job, working on an integration of the flow.io (a localized e-commerce checkout SaaS) with the in-house backend based on Ruby on Rails and Spree, I have crafted and developed to some extent the integration gem - https://github.com/mejuri-inc/flowcommerce_spree/commits?author=texpert

Had a bit of experience with PHP Symfony and Ember JS frameworks, jQuery, and a bit more with React. The latter isn't on the list of my preferences.

Able to deal with HTML/ERB/Slim/Haml/Rabl, CSS/SASS and JavaScript.

I enjoy learning and applying new techniques, patterns, and programming languages. Had some experience with Python, Go, and absolutely enjoying the Crystal PL.

With any PL, I am learning and tending to use its best practices, style guides, and code analyzers for development and testing.

Sincerely yours,
Aurel Branzeanu
