Doing Your Project Right the First Time, On Time

Hello, I'm Luke.
I'm an intermediate level web developer cum designer, though my core strength is in development work. I thrive in creating back-ends of web applications, having primarily started as PHP programmer. Nonetheless, I'm not a total noob when it comes to front-end development since every application for which I build a back-end has a front-end from where users interact with it. I've also undertaken front-end development work in my work where I was mainly involved with coming up with website wireframes for website projects, creating User Interface(UI) designs in Photoshop and transforming those designs into real websites using HTML & CSS, not to mention including twitter bootstrap in the process. I think that's enough to label me as an intermediate level website designer.

My back-end development skills come in handy when creating the desired functionality for a web application to match a client's requirements. Under such scenarios, I'll have to model the application architecture, preferably using Unified Modelling Language(UML), then implement that functionality using PHP and MySQL since most applications are data-driven.

I'm also experienced in using Python and its Flask framework to create robust applications.

Being primarily self-taught, I'm constantly challenging myself to take on greater challenges by continuously improving my skill-set so as to be able to create products that deliver value to my clients.

Lastly, Communication. The success of any project hinges on the ability of the two parties involved communicating in a clear and effective manner. I being proficient in both verbal and written communication using the English language, I try to make clients understand that giving vague details for a project won't enable me to produce stellar work. But I'm also able to guide them in creating a detailed project requirement document in the event that they may not be having clear details about the work they'd love done.

Work Terms

Since I'm located in Nairobi, (GMT + 3.00), I usually don't mind being flexible especially for projects where the client is in need of constant communication and is located in another timezone like say PDT,(GMT - 11.00). I prefer communication using instant messenger application like Skype, though using the messaging platform of Guru is also okay.

Payment terms: I urge clients to always make a down payment once they've interviewed me and determined that I'm capable of delivering on their project.
