About

3D CGI Visualization Retouching

3D Digital Artist creating 3D models and texturing to produce realistic 3D renders and CGI visuals. Specializing in still imagery such as visualizations and 3D CGI it's essential to know how to create physically accurate shaders, materials, lighting and retouching (post production of CGI imagery) to achieve high quality digital images.
I create 3D visualization and CGI animation to generate imagery of products and buildings to help communicate ideas and projects to clients or market and advertise your next brand to the world. My workflow is mainly 3ds Max for creating high-end images from your CAD models that are already created through the design and engineering of the product. These CAD files such as Solid Works or Catia can easily be imported into 3ds Max in various ways. 3D models are just as often made working from concept art and CAD drawings to see what a design will look like in order to create a photographic image. Once you have a model it can be rendered and composited into a photograph or placed in a full 3D scene built from reference. Applying post production lets you add all sorts of details such as skies, people and other elements as well as grading the image to give your design a professional or commercial finish.

Work Terms

Every brief is different, and every design project is different. Similarly, the way I structure hours for a 3D visualization or 3D illustration varies from one design to the next.
Ideally there is always at least a two-stage process, such as blocking out the overall shape of a 3D model which would demand a 50% payment, then finalizing the details before issuing the final 3D model. Ideally, materials and lighting are a separate phase.
The phases of a 3D visualization process are greatly simplified if the design is already finalized or if it’s only a 3d model that’s required and needs a simple studio style render. Often a full 3d scene is used to place a product in context, such as a kitchen counter for a coffee machine and develop the lighting and look, composite the render passes to make everything look right and come together, perhaps to market and advertise the design.
Sometimes low resolution or water-marked images are issued until a full payment is received, usually agreed upon in advance.
