Writing and Editing Professional
I have been a journalist for more than 20 years. I have worked for an automotive magazine, a daily/weekly broadsheet and a daily tabloid. For the last 10 years up until last October, I worked as a news coordinator/news editor/assistant editor at Jamaica's number one newspaper. During this time my responsibilities were to:-
• Supervise and manage the paper's day to day operations
o Edit articles and finalize layouts for paper and online stories
o Ensure that daily deadlines are met
o Hand out article assignments; Hold regular meetings
o Solicit article ideas and ensure that major news stories are covered
o Lead investigative reporting team and edit subsequent articles
o Edit submitted stories and assign rework as necessary
o Ensure that all articles published are of interest to the readership
o Approve photos for use with stories
o Supervise reporters; Check, supervise and update website
o Interact with other editors, departments and external people/businesses
