Loving and Embracing the Natural Kinks and Curls through Blog posts and Articles
Being a licensed cosmetologist for the last 12 years has shifted my perspective. I thought that styling hair was a main part of cosmetology, but it is just a minor concept under a bigger umbrella. While my career path took me into industries different from my true passion, I learned many skills and taken tools with me that can be use in the hair and beauty world. Overtime, I learned that hairstyles may look pretty, but a true cosmetologist's passion is to grow the hair; to create healthy growth so that every woman will be proud to wear the crown that is on their head. As an African American woman with 4C hair, I grew up with not accepting my natural hair and seeing it in a negative light. There was a time where women of color were not taught to accept their hair; that any hair type was better than Type 4 hair. Times are different, you see younger girls of color taught to love the kinks and curls of their hair. I want to be a part of that movement; teaching other girls and women of color the proper techniques to take care of the hair, the natural products that will help during your hair journey, and empowering women to love their hair through it all.
While Hair is my true passion, I also have expertise in areas such as:
- Leadership
- Management
- Administrative
- Sales support Specialist
- Training
- Fast Food Industry
- Hospitality
- Customer Service
