Now that we have had some time to evaluate the product that Dig IT Out has returned to us, I have to say that we are very pleased with the results. I would like to explain our rating in each category.
Technical Skill (4 stars): As mentioned above, the product that was delivered is very complete as well as maintainable. The developers addressed all of the issues that we found in previous versions when they made their final delivery, and so far there are no noticable bugs.
Communication (2 stars): Communication was a sticking point. There were no language barriers because the developers' English writing and comprehension skills are top notch. The reason for 2 stars is that we found ourselves waiting up to 2 - 3 days for responses to emails concerning the project. We would have liked more prompt responses or even developer initiated progress reports.
Creativity (4 stars): We have found that the developers created a very great calendar application that will be usable for years to come within our organization. While looking through the code, we noticed that they commented most areas so that we can understand how the code works. The actual calendar control is very sharp looking, it is probably the best looking calendar control that we saw, even compared to those that are available elsewhere on the internet.
Timeliness(2 stars): This was another sticking point for the project; however, the developers made a compromise after they knew they would miss milestones that were set up in the project agreement. As noted above, we wished that we could have gotten more frequent progress reports that were iniated by the developer. The project was Delivered to us on March 4, 2010, while the final delivery agreed upon in the project agreement was supposed to be Jan 26, 2010. The developers decided to give us a prearranged support period for free instead of making us pay for the period as was noted in the project agreement. We felt that this was a great compromise to make up for missing the delivery date.
Overall, we are satisfied with the product that Dig IT Out has produced and delivered to us.
